Bees + Flies, otherwise known as Tekton Zero One, represents a significant piece within D-Fuse's ongoing Tekton series, which focuses on innovative experiments involving the processing of analogue imagery within visually engaging architectural light structures. This early yet impactful study, featuring intricately and densely packed formations of light, was created in collaboration with the talented German musician Hauschka and was commissioned specifically for the renowned 1 Minuto film festival held in Italy. The work draws inspiration from the bold Constructivist designs of Vladimir Tatlin, as well as the innovative concepts of László Moholy-Nagy’s Light Space Modulator. The creative process behind this captivating piece was originally developed for the Light Turned Down performances by D-Fuse and Scanner (Robin Rimbaud) back in the year 2000, with significant contributions from Labmeta's Paul Mumford. Over time, it has further evolved into a series of films and live performances showcased at various notable events, including the Punta Y Raya Festival in Iceland, as well as other exhibitions across the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. Most recently, it found a place in the opening programme of the Art Center Nabi in South Korea, marking yet another milestone in its artistic journey.
