Who is He? Nick M. Daniels, a Pittsburgh pioneer in exploring race and sexual identity, founded the D.A.N.A. Movement Ensemble (Dancers Against Normal Actions) in 1991. With over 30 years of dance and choreography experience, he returned to the dance scene in 2016 after a 20+ year break. His style blends butoh, African, modern, and contemporary dance, focusing on raw emotion. He often uses self-created soundscapes and video in his work. Daniels began dancing in high school in McKeesport and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Slippery Rock University. His company has earned many awards and positive reviews both in the U.S. and internationally.
